EcoLoop API

The EcoLoop API makes it easy for developers and integrators to calculate direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions.
The API also includes retrieval of emission factors and current carbon price.

Service Details

    - Calculate emission [POST] – Calculate emission of an activity with the provided parameters
      · Input: Emission activity parameters including activity period, activity type, fuel source, etc.
      · Output: Emission details: emission per gas (CO2, CH4, N2O, etc.) total CO2 equivalent

    - Get emission factors [GET] – Queries emission factors which are coefficients of pollution generated per amount of activity
      · Input: region, year, activity type, etc.
      · Output: Emission factor details

    - Get activity types [GET] – Queries emission activity types
      · Input: region, type, name
      · Output: Activity type details

    The company was awarded the 2022 Didimdol grant from the Korean government to implement the platform.

Use Cases

Nowadays the climate crisis is a major socio-economic factor. In order to reduce carbon footprint it is necessary to know the current emission and forecast future emissions.

There are many uses cases in which the API can be applied:

  1. ERP that calculates carbon footprint of business operations
    · Calculate emissions in the offices and business activities, and provides a dashboard of the emission in terms of carbon price.

  2. Metaverse that simulates the effects of the planet based on the emissions of virtual activities.
    · Carbon emissions are calculated for the activities that happen in the virtual world.
      The calculation is then used to simulate the impact to the planet such as flooding and drought.

  3. Climate-friendly home: smart speakers.
    · Smart speaker tells the user’s carbon emission of the day. It can also compare with prior day,
      or prior month and nicely gives the user suggestions to further reduce emission.

  4. Game with a climate theme.
    · A game that teaches kids how different lifestyles can affect the intensity of carbon emissions.
    · For example ad adventure game asks the player to chose using coal based generator vs LPG based generator

  5. Eco mileage point.
    · A mobile that keeps track of walk steps, stairs climbed, etc. and calculates the emissions saved compared prior month.
    · Based on the saved emission for choosing a less carbon intensive activity, eco points are accumulated.
